Lake
Superior
Lake Superior is the
world's second largest lake, and the world's largest
freshwater lake.
Lake Superior has a surface
area of over 31,000 square miles and a maximum depth of
1,335 feet.
This Great
Lake stretches approximately 350 miles from west to
east, and 160 miles north to south, with a shoreline
almost 2,800 miles long.
Lake Superior
holds
about 3,000 cubic miles of water - enough to fill all
the other Great Lakes plus Lake Erie three times over.
Lake
Superior is also the coldest of the Great Lakes at an
average temperature of 40° F (4°C). The water
temperature sets the climate for the area, making
winters warmer and summers cooler.

Lake Superior is known as a
great Salmon and Trout fishery. Chinook Salmon,
Coho Salmon and Pink Salmon are all abundant in Lake
Superior. Trout
fishing on Lake Superior is also strong for Rainbow
Trout, Brown Trout, Steelhead Trout and Lake Trout.
